Discover Twenty-Nine Latest Cards from Magic: The Gathering's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Including a Commander Deck!)
Everyone's favorite pizza-eating heroes are coming to the popular trading card game. The well-known TCG's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion during a exclusive event hosted at New York Comic Con. Is this a exciting addition or simply another crossover cash grab? We'll let you decide.
Take a look below at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including key context. All items mentioned below launches on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27.
MTG x TMNT: Main Set Reveals
Before we get into the many special decks and collections available, let’s take a look at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the set are set at $6.99 each, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let’s explore a couple of surprising features. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak, which is a riff on the already established Ninjutsu, where gamers can cheat powerful creatures onto the battlefield when an attacking creature goes unblocked. The key change in this case is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures too. Wizards also used this chance to refine the ability a bit (Sneak counts as playing a spell, as opposed to Ninjutsu). The original ability isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in future sets from now on.
Should we were to return to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that's where it originated and it’s a hallmark of that world,” an experienced designer stated. “But on other planes, since the rules are cleaner and Sneak will be in standard, it’s probable we’ll use the updated version.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is among four cards with unique artwork designed exclusively for the expansion by TMNT original artist Kevin Eastman.
Additionally, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play cards outside of your deck, so was I. But according to the developers, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.
Anyway, here are the extremely bizarre full-art lands from this set:
Following the company’s existing guidelines, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. The designers say they took care to make sure the new cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for 15 months and we knew it would be in standard and which sets were going to be alongside it in Standard,” a lead designer says. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet strategy built around artifacts.
“They combine to offer the components for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” he added.
Commander Deck: Turtle Power!
Following a decision to create any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it includes six different legendary creatures who could work as your commander based on how you combine them (five of the cards have a special Partner mechanic called “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command area instead of just one). Take a look below:
The Turtle Power deck is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise based on demand. Sources indicated that it includes 43 new cards altogether, which means an additional thirty-seven TMNT-themed game cards besides the six legendary commanders shown above. (Calculating roughly, this suggests about 20 reprints if we assume the deck includes 37 lands.)
How will the Turtles edition of the iconic Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and find out.
