Attorney General Discloses Investigation into Trump Opponents and Jeffrey Epstein Links
This past Friday, Pam Bondi appointed Jay Clayton to oversee an inquiry into opponents of Donald Trump and their relationships with Jeffrey Epstein. This decision came just after the president directed her to initiate the probe.
During an announcement, the Attorney General highlighted Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. She added, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”
This development appears to contradict a recent memorandum from justice department officials which indicated that the Epstein files lacked grounds for further inquiries. As per the document, investigators “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”
The President Demands Scrutiny of Political Opponents in Epstein Case
The announcement comes as increasing demands from Trump on lawmakers to oppose the full release of Epstein-related documents before an upcoming House vote next week. Many Republicans are expected to support the disclosure.
Recently released emails from Jeffrey Epstein have spotlighted Trump’s past involvement with the convicted criminal, revealing details that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.
That same day, the President announced he would direct the DOJ to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
