Diving into a Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Poop in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have discovered numerous interesting creations from small studios. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure features a protagonist that is truly a dung striving to make its way to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
How you interact is simple: you only need a single jump button. Across 150 stages, battle boss fights and visit a market to buy outfits for your poop character.
Plan your movements with caution, as a mistake requires restarting the level. Leap using floating orbs to launch yourself upward, navigate crumbling platforms, and activate buttons to open secret routes. Gather UN-KOINS and use them on tougher stages as the action ramps up.
Graphically, the experience shows off eye-catching level designs and catchy music score. The retro graphics featuring morphing geometric shapes could recall fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
While it's tough to recall other games where you are a piece of feces, gaming often incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make throwables from character waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content is present a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable accolades, like taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the final release set to debut on Steam in the fall.
